Johannes is currently a PhD candidate at the Department of International Relations of the University of St. Andrews. Prior to starting his research into the role of intergovernmental organizations (IGOs) in counterterrorism, he pursued a degree in Political Science at the University of Vienna. Upon graduation he proceeded to completing the MLitt. Terrorism and Political Violence at The Handa Centre for the Study of Terrorism and Political Violence (CSTPV) in St. Andrews.

Thesis title: The role of intergovernmental organizations (IGOs) in counterterrorism efforts.
